View filters are applied in what order in Google Analytics? Some newbies asked me about this question when they use Google Analytics the first time. While I understand why this question is asked because there are a lot of data showed in Google Analytics and it does take you a while to figure all that out.

View filters are applied in what order

As a matter of fact, the default order of the view filter is made by Google itself. Usually it is just in sequential order.

Google make it available to set up the filter by yourself

Google allows you to manage the filter by yourself. You can create the filter in both account and view level.

Create filter in account level

you shall follow this procedure.

  1. Sign in to Google Analytics..
  2. Click Admin, and navigate to the account in which you want to create the filter.
  3. In the ACCOUNT column, click All Filters.
  4. Click + Add Filter. (If this button is not visible, you do not have the necessary permission.)
  5. Enter a name for the filter.
  6. Select Predefined to select from the predefined filter types.
  7. Select Custom to construct a custom filter from the options we provide. If you create a custom filter, consult our definitions of the filter fields.
  8. From the Available views list, select the views to which you want to apply the filter, then click Add.
  9. Click Save.

Create filter in View Level

  1. Sign in to Google Analytics..
  2. Click Admin, and navigate to the view in which you want to create the filter.
  3. In the VIEW column, click Filters.
  4. Click + Add Filter. (If this button is not visible, you do not have the necessary permission.)
  5. Select Create new Filter.
  6. Enter a name for the filter.
  7. Select Predefined to select from the predefined filter types.
  8. Select Custom to construct a custom filter from the options we provide. If you create a custom filter, consult our definitions of the filter fields.
  9. From the Available views list, select the views to which you want to apply the filter, then click Add.
  10. Click Save.

Change the filter order

  1. Sign in to Google Analytics..
  2. Select the Admin tab and navigate to the view in which you want to create the filter.
  3. In the VIEW column, click Filters.
  4. Click Assign Filter Order, select the filter you want to move, then click Move up or Move down. Click Save when you are finished.
  5. If you want to remove a filter from the view, click remove in the row for that filter.
